Searchable Databases and Records Request Forms

This database indexes death records from May 1848 through May 1878. It includes over 301,128 records. The deceased’s name, exact or circa death date, and registration location are included in all entries. We are currently verifying the data from the original record books and will add the exact death date, age at death, gender, marital status, and race, if it is available. In cases where the index or the original books did not record these fields, a “U,” for unknown, has been entered.

This database is still being edited. Researchers should be aware that records where age, gender, marital status, and an exact date or year of death are not recorded have not yet been verified in the original books. Unverified records are subject to correction.

Results are limited to 500 records per search.

The index may be searched by any combination of first name and/or last name, county, and/or years.

Entering the initial letter or string of letters into the name fields will return all records beginning with that letter or string. To search a string within a name, use the wildcard character * followed by the string. For example, the surname "Smith" may be searched to include the variant "Smyth" by entering "Sm*th" in last name field. To sort the search results click on the header of each column.
